The first Trojan horse virus for the Iphone was found today. The trojan specifically targets Iphones that have been modded so third party programs can be installed (which is like a burglar walking through your front door after you found a way to make your door frame bigger than the door is).

The virus is a fake update for Erica’s Utilities and, luckily, does little damage when it’s installed. All it does is say “shoes”. However, if the software is uninstalled, it will take with it several key files, breaking apps such as sendfile and Erica’s Utilities.

Oddly enough, the virus was created by an eleven year old which explains how easy the Iphone is to hack, as well as explaining why the virus does nothing more than say “shoes” over and over again.

Another reason for us Indians to be proud is the headlines from April 29, 2007:

Made in India PC for just about $100

While global computing giants like IBM and AMD are yet to give shape to their ambitious plans for a computer that costs $100 or less, an Indian company, Novatium, has already set its eyes on 10 million potential customers with its up-and-running PC priced at Rs 4,500 only. Novatium was co-founded by US-based Analog Devices chairman Ray Stata, Netcore Solutions managing director Rajesh Jain and professor Ashok Jhunjhunwala of IIT Madras.

The company’s NetPC works on a ‘thin client’ concept. This is a small box and does not contain any software or application. It is linked to a central server, which hosts all applications.

“Network PC (NetPC) costs around $100 (less than Rs 4,400) and along with a monthly subscription of around Rs 400, it provides you with internet connection and almost everything like authentic software and applications,” Singh said.

"Yahoo Hack day today!" - Techcrunch.

When you first read it, it seems like an opportunity to hack the web giant YAHOOOOO

But it happens to be more of an opportunity to develop creativity and innovativeness into something presentable……..like the article says : ideas to prototypes.

People may ask, whats the fun. how many of the prototypes would become live. But shouldn't that be the spirit. and how good are the ideas without reality. So prototypes still would be a step ahead……….a bold move towards Reality :)

What’s going on over at Yahoo?
