Success is the ability to go from failure to failure ,

without losing enthusiasm.

Don’t be sad for being without someone

who is happy being without you.

The true worth of your being
Is much more, than it seems
Your goodwill is contagious
Spreads faster than the gleams

Treading through sands of time
The footprints which you leave
Have led thwarted wanderers
To horizons and to achieve

Count your life by moments
When you put a heart at ease
When you relish in this trivia
Your worries begin to cease

You never get what you want
But always what you need
Love comes when least expected
And never when you plead.

At the toastmasters sessions today we had three wonderful speakers who spoke on versatile topics: Leadership, Fears and Running. Beautifully presented excellent content!!

My attempt at linking the three speeches:

facefear.jpg

Run away from your fears
Or face them with your tears
Bring them to their plight
And lead yourself to light

Your trophy is your faith
In self and in your will
With firm steps on the zenith
And awesome views downhill.

Change

If you are searching for the common denominator in your life, you are in luck. You are it. Now that you know you are the only consistent factor in any situation, you can begin to figure out how you are contributing to your recurring challenges and problems. This is great news because, once you realize you are at least part of the problem, you can begin to change your behavior, beliefs and attitudes that are contributing to the situation. Keep in mind that you have to concern yourself only with you, not with anyone else. You are the only one you can change. So don’t focus outside yourself. Focus on the common denominator. You will be amazed at the difference this process will make in your life.

There are times in life
When the days seem hard
We are wiling to succumb
When the troubles embark

The worries keep growing
They put us to test
We are about to give up
When we should give it our best

We pull up our courage
And look around our space
Miss the cheer leaders
Who vanished at our face.

We try hard to persist
And fight against the odds
Burn the midnight oil
And give our best shots

So close to the horizon
Still miss it by a chance
Fate seems a nemesis
Playing the Devil’s dance

Life thwarts us with failures
And successes to make us proud
With one rule to Remember
There’s a lining to every cloud

It’s just a fun test game
Where God is our coach
His delays are not his denials
It’s the golden way to approach.

The road to success is not straight.
There is a curve called Failure,
A loop called Confusion,
Speed bumps called Friends,
Red lights called Enemies,
Caution lights called Family,
You will have flats called Jobs.   ;-)

Lovely Rose at 87.

The first day of school our professor introduced himself and challenged us to get to know someone we didn’t already know. I stood up to look around when a gentle hand touched my shoulder. I turned around to find a wrinkled, little old lady beaming up at me with a smile that lit up her entire being. She said, “Hi handsome. My name is Rose.
I’m eighty-seven years old. Can I give you a hug?”
I laughed and enthusiastically responded, “Of course you may!” and she gave me a giant squeeze
“Why are you in college at such a young, innocent age?” I asked.
She jokingly replied, “I’m here to meet a rich husband, get married, and have a couple of kids..”

A young man asked Socrates the secret to success. Socrates told the young man to meet him near the river the next morning. They met. Socrates asked the young man to walk with him toward the river. When the water got up to their neck, Socrates took the young man by surprise and ducked him into the water. The boy struggled to get out but Socrates was strong and kept him there until the boy started turning blue. Socrates pulled his head out of the water and the first thing the young man did was to gasp and take a deep breath of air. Socrates asked, ‘What did you want the most when you were there?” The boy replied, “Air.”  Socrates said, “That is the secret to success.

When you want success as badly as you wanted the air, then you will get it.”

There is no other secret.

Below is one of my favorite songs from the movie ‘Kalyug’

Future is so ambiguous and we are so oblivious about it. So whatever it is; it is this very moment. Don’t lose it by thinking about what’s next as God might have some other plans for you then.

It is so true about life……..Live for this moment. :)  as that is Life.

yeh pal ki toh hai zindagi
yeh pal kho na jaaye kahi
yeh pal ka tu kar le yakeen
yeh aaj hai toh kal nahi
yeh pal aawara sahi
yeh pal mehbaad koi
yeh pal hai wafa ki talab
yeh pal ko salaam mera
yeh meri bandagi

sab kutch chupa hai is pal mein) - 2

Ik aas hai chanchal chitvan se
sapno ki duniya sajaane ki
dil chaahi khushi jahaan basti ho
Namumkin ko mumkin banaane ki

Mann jeeto apne vishwaas se
Nahi chalti vidhi vidhaano ki
Chhoo jaate hain woh bulandi ko
Jineh chaah ho kuch kar jaane ki

Uthte huye inn kadmon se
Haathon ki inn lakeeron ki
Badleinge hum iss kismat ko
Hai kasam humein zamaane ki

Follow Your heart

A typical Arian that I am, I tend to go by my first instincts. I can’t really vow that they are always right, but following my heart has always given me a sense of satisfaction. It provides me with the courage to stand forth and face the harsh winds that slam into my face and also embrace the warm breeze that soothes the pain thereafter. It gives me the convenience of living life one day at a time and to live it without any inhibitions and fears. It helps me to live life fully – The First Time.

Usually my first instinct for a situation is based on trust, faith and experience of life so far. Not to claim that I have lot many experiences, but as they say, life is a mystery for an 8 year old and an 80 year old alike. Who on the surface on earth is not perplexed? Who can predict the future with certainty? Who does not cross his fingers when things don’t seem to be feasible and seem only a very distant possibility? In those times it is only our faith and hope that keeps us going. What we see and perceive in our first instincts is often the innocent acumen of our heart. When things are going in our favor we undoubtedly choose to follow them but at times when we are faced with circumstantial discords, we humans give our instincts a SECOND thought.

I don’t really remember when I first heard the above quote; but this has been like some guiding light for me ever since. I think it dates back to my school years, especially those examination quarters. At times I take some time to ponder over words and these phrases which other wise would seem to be just a sentence but have a deeper meaning. This in particular has always motivated me….pushed me forward. During the hours when I was discouraged and wanted to give it all up, this reminded me that I can’t give up without giving it my best shot. That’s what life is all about………

Give your best and don’t worry about the rest.

I have always been the go-getter girl, mainly because of my mom who always encouraged me with her saying “If someone can do it….so can you”. I can actually credit all my achievements to them both – mom and dad: Mom for her constant pushes and Dad for his never ending trust and faith in me. Time and again they reminded me the importance of being worthy of my actions……having confidence in my abilities and remembering always that even when not all shall be in my hands ……. even if the whole universe conspires against me, I should always trust and believe that it is ME who can make a difference and I shall leave no leaf unturned to ensure it.

Those who believe sky is the limit; have a very limited imagination.

Sir Edmund Hillary was the first man to climb Mount Everest. On May 29, 1953 he scaled the highest mountain then known to man-29,000 feet straight up. He was knighted for his efforts.

He even made American Express card commercials because of it! However, until we read his book, High Adventure, we don’t understand that Hillary had to grow into this success.

You see, in 1952 he attempted to climb Mount Everest, but failed. A few weeks later a group in England asked him to address its members.

Hillary walked on stage to a thunderous applause. The audience was recognizing an attempt at greatness, but Edmund Hillary saw himself as a failure. He moved away from the microphone and walked to the edge of the platform.

He made a fist and pointed at a picture of the mountain. He said in a loud voice, Mount Everest, you beat me the first time, but I’ll beat you the next time because you’ve grown all you are going to grow… but I’m still growing!

Make a wish

What is hope?

Hope (according to the dictionary) is the feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best. And hope against hope is, to continue to hope, although the outlook does not warrant it. Hope is a belief in a positive outcome related to events and circumstances in one’s life. Hope implies a certain amount of perseverance i.e. believing that a positive outcome is possible even when there is some evidence to the contrary. Hopefulness is somewhat different than optimism, in that hope is an emotional state, where optimism is a conclusion reached through a deliberate thought pattern which leads to a positive attitude.

Hope is passive in the sense of a wish or a prayer - or active as a plan or idea, often against popular belief, with persistent, personal action to execute the plan or prove the idea. Consider a prisoner of war who never gives up hope for escape and, against the odds, plans and accomplishes this. By contrast another who simply wishes or prays for freedom, or another who give up all hope of freedom.

What is hope in realistic terms for humans?

For an old man in his 80s, hope is not that life is eternal, but instead hope is health and happiness. For a blind person, hope is not the colors of the rainbow, but instead the tears of joy which fill his eyes when he feels the smiles of his loved ones. For a 6 year old suffering from leukemia, hope is the fairy’s magical wand that’ll steal away the pain.

What is hope without faith in your self….without the courage and perseverance…… without the urge to achieve the impossible………without your will to see through the circumstances and believe in your instincts……in your strengths? With every Hope in our heart, we need a SWOT (Strengths Weaknesses Opportunities Threats) analysis……

Mind is what baffles us……Heart directs us to things which are more humane……but we choose to run after the materialistic things………in the hope of a better future……we make compromises with our present……when future in itself is a mystery……and which future are we talking about……when we are unsure about what happens the next moment………but we are humans……we are influenced by not what is within us……but with that which is around us……and that is our biggest issue.

Oliver wendell Holmes once said: What lies behind us and what lies ahead of us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.

We shy away from the known in pursuit of an unknown.

But what we fail to remember is that: Life is not a bed of roses and every rose comes with thorns – sooner or later. We can’t change the inevitable……What we can do is to trust ourselves and our abilities and march forth.

“If you look at what you do not have in life, you don’t have anything, If you look at what you have in life, you have everything”.

Don’t Quit

When the going gets tough…..the tough get going :)
